MORE ABOUT ME

What inspired my transition from snowboarding to UX design?

Hi! I’m Kyle Hay, a design enthusiast with the determination of a semi-professional snowboarder and the friendly charm of an experienced bartender. My journey has been defined by diverse experiences, from gliding down snowy slopes to forging relationships with restaurant clientele. These chapters of my life have taught me the value of determination, adaptability, and understanding human behavior—skills I now channel into creating meaningful user experiences.

Snowboarding taught me to value flow and balance, principles I aim to bring into every design I create. Whether navigating challenging terrain or crafting seamless interfaces, I approach each task with the same focus and drive to improve. My background in hospitality has further honed my empathy, giving me a unique ability to anticipate and respond to the needs of others. Pairing these insights with my love for music, photography, and psychology, I bring a creative yet human-centered perspective to every project I take on.

To me, successful UX design is like a well-oiled machine—where visual and psychological elements work together to deliver a meaningful and impactful experience. I’ve always embraced choosing my own path, even when it meant going against the grain, trusting that resilience and passion would guide me toward something meaningful. Whether it’s on the slopes, behind the bar, or at my desk, I’ve always embraced challenges with determination and creativity, and I bring that same energy to every design I create.
